Bird Habitat Improvement

Part-time volunteer position May-August

BHHC is looking for an intern who has some interest and knowledge in ornithology, is a good researcher, enjoys being and working outside, and can conduct indoor and outdoor recordkeeping. Intern will work to assess and improve bird habitat on a number of properties and will report to a supervisor. If interested, please contact Sue Julian at 248-785-2808.

Director of Donor Engagement

The position of Director of Donor Engagement is central to the mission of the Blue Heron Headwaters Conservancy of Clarkston, Michigan. A person who enjoys helping  people who want to conserve land and protect nature is the right person for this full-time position to start in January 2023 or sooner. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker, a multi-tasker, a team worker and a person who can communicate their passion for saving nature to supporters. The ability to convince philanthropically inclined individuals to fund our work is critical. Contact Executive Director Susan Julian for more information. Winter Outdoor Stewardship 

Part-time; 20 hours/wk; flexible schedule
Start date:
August 2023
Pay $15.00/hour

 

Requirements:  Has own transportation, physical ability to perform strenuous tasks; willingness to learn forestry and stewardship skills; team worker; reliability in task completion; experienced in chainsaw usage; ability to write reports
Duties:  Cut and treat woody invasive brush and trees on conservancy property trail maintenance; sign construction and placement; boundary marking; and other maintenance activities on properties in a six-township area. This is step 1 in improving habitat for wildlife. Supervised by BHHC Field Stewardship Coordinator.

Sponsorship Coordinator

BHHC seeks an outgoing individual with marketing skills to engage area businesses for sponsorship of the organization. Payment of up to $1000 may be earned on a performance basis involving in-person contacts. Contract for this work will begin August 21 and extend through the end of 2023. Event Coordinator

Blue Heron Headwaters Conservancy seeks a coordinator for two fundraising events to benefit the operations of the conservancy. A model for these events is in place along with support from staff and volunteers. The task involves 40 hours of facilitation per event. Coordination will involve both remote and in-office work between August 21 and December 22, 2023.
